Guiding Principles for a Rewarding Journey
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
As a certified Elite Trainer, I’ve had the honor of helping numerous individuals navigate their fitness journeys. Throughout my experiences, I’ve discovered several essential principles that have consistently kept me and my clients on the right path. Today, I’d like to share the first and perhaps the most crucial principle: MAKE FITNESS A PRIORITY!
WHY PRIORITIZE FITNESS?
The benefits of exercise are well-known and offer plenty of reasons to prioritize it. Regular exercise can help prevent chronic diseases, improve mental health, and boost overall well-being. It increases energy levels, simplifies daily tasks, and contributes to a longer, healthier life.
However, people justify not doing it in our busy world for many reasons. From hectic work schedules to family commitments, it’s easy to let fitness fall by the wayside. But making fitness a priority is essential, and it will pay dividends if done consistently!
OVERCOMING COMMON EXCUSES
I DON'T HAVE TIME
If I had a dime for every time I heard people tell me this, I would have A LOT of dimes! Again, it comes down to making time for your health and overall well-being.
TIP: Break your workouts into shorter sessions throughout the day. Even 10-minute bursts of activity can add up.
2. I'M TOO TIRED
Sometimes, feeling like you don't have the energy to move your body happens. But it's times like these when you need to let your dedication to your health override the feeling of being tired.
TIP: Exercise can boost your energy levels. Start with light activities like walking or stretching to get into the habit. Remember, unless you are sick, even a little exercise is better than skipping it altogether!
3. IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE
The high cost of gym memberships can be a valid issue. But if there is a will, there is a way!
TIP: There are plenty of free or low-cost options available, such as online workout videos, community classes, or simply going for a run.
4. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORKOUT
Remember being a kid? Those carefree days of running, jumping, and playing were fun and a great way to stay active and healthy. It’s amazing how much exercise we got without even realizing it. Exercise is all about movement, and you don't have to be an expert at it to move.
TIP: Seek guidance from a fitness professional or use fitness apps that provide structured workout plans.
5. I DON'T ENJOY IT
“I can completely relate to this. I found a passion for bodybuilding from a young age, which kickstarted my fitness journey. If I had to do powerlifting instead, I would have given up long ago because it just doesn’t resonate with me.
TIP: Experiment with different activities until you find something you love. Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore; it can be fun and enjoyable.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Making fitness a priority is the foundation of a successful fitness journey. It’s about committing to your health and well-being and recognizing that taking care of your body is one of your most essential investments.
